| 2. The
Breakdown and Budget
Once the script has been finalized and
the Producing Team and Director are in place, the film needs to be “broken
down” to
determine how many days it will take to shoot. Film scripts shoot
an average
of 4-6 pages per day, so a 120-page feature film can take up to a
month to make!
A script breakdown also tells the Production
Team everything else they need to know about the project—the
total number of roles that need to be cast, the total number of
locations that need to
be secured, what sort of props will be needed, etc.
Once all of this information is gathered, the
Producers can then assign a dollar figure or “Budget” to
the project and begin the search for financing.
